Civil Ceremony #30

 NEVER STOP HOLDING YOUR HAND

Who gives this woman to be married to this man?  / I do.

TO GUESTS
Welcome family and friends on this beautiful evening. We are here this evening to celebrate and bless the wedding of _(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_. They would like to thank each of you for making the journey to be with them today as they celebrate their marriage. Each of you have touched their lives in a special way, and they are honoured to have you present today.

As _(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_ enter into marriage, they do so with thoughtfulness and reverence. They give thanks for the past, which has brought them to this place, and look forward with hope for what the future will bring.

REMARKS TO THE COUPLE
_(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_ , the moment to which you have looked forward has now come. As a company of family and friends, we have at your invitation, assembled in this place to witness the public exchange of your vows of commitment to each other. We are thankful for the gift of life, for family and friends, and for the love that exists between you.

DECLARATION
_(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_ are about to commit themselves in marriage to each other. If anyone knows of just cause why they may not be lawfully joined in marriage, let them declare it or else forever hold their peace.

UNITY CANDLE CEREMONY
_______ and ________, mothers of the Bride and Groom, will now come forward to light the unity candle.  The two individual flames, one representing each family, will demonstrate to us the symbol of two who become one, as well as the unending love that _(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_ have received from their mothers.  ————–  You may now proceed in the lighting of the candle.

TO COUPLE
Today, _(Bride)_ and _(Groom)_ , your celebration of love is an outward sign of a sacred and inward commitment. As you stand here in our presence, I remind you that a successful marriage is based on respect, honesty, loyalty and love. Be kind to each other. When you disagree, do so with respect.  The love that you have found together is a fragile gift. Always hold in your heart the feelings that you have at this moment. When there are difficult times, when you may doubt the validity of your love, bring yourself back to beauty of this moment. Keep your hearts open to each other, especially when it is the most difficult.

PLEDGE
_(Groom)_ , do you pledge to _(Bride)_ that with all your heart and being you will love and support her in all ways, to your utmost capabilities for the rest of your life.   /  I do.

RINGS
Rings represent unity because they never end, but flow in an unbroken line. So they are symbolic of the unending love bond that is the hallmark of marriage success. Worn on your hand, they symbolize the solemn marriage vows that you, as bride and groom, have just now exchanged.

May I have the rings please?

_(Groom)_, please repeat after me while placing this ring on _(Bride)’s finger.

With this ring,
a symbol of my love,
I thee wed.

(Bride), please repeat after me while placing this ring on _(Groom)’s finger.

With this ring,
a symbol of my love,
I thee wed.

PRONOUNCEMENT
_(Groom)_ and _(Bride)_ have openly declared their wishes to be united in marriage and in the presence of these witnesses have pledged their love to one another. They have confirmed the same by each giving and receiving a ring and by joining hands. It is my honor and delight to pronounce that they are husband and wife. (MOVE TO SIDE)

Please seal your vows with a kiss.

CLOSING
_(Groom)_ and _(Bride)_ may the demands of your life together be met with courage and hopefulness. May you learn from your challenges and grow in your success.  May your love and care for one another last through all of your moments together, so that in the triumphs and the trials that lie ahead, you will feel just as happy as you do now – happy to be in love and married to one another.
